Advanced Wing Proficiency Course -Skills to safely pilot speed wings, mini wings

The Speed Wing endorsement will be retired from 1 September 2026. PG4 Pilots who currently have Speed Wing endorsements will be granted limited authorisations to fly ONLY Speed Wings in addition to EN A or B wings. If they wish to fly other advanced wings, they will need to complete the online APWP course ( via the SAFA online learning website).  PG5 pilots will be able to fly advanced wings, although SAFA strongly urges them to complete the online APWP course. 

Paragliding Tasmania has developed this course to fall in line with SAFA's new positive move to educate rather than imposing rules. Paragliding Tasmania has created a 2 day course to help people move into Para Kites, speed flying and mini wing flying in a safe and practical way.

Target Audience & Prerequisites:

Minimum Requirement: PG4 pilot rating (or equivalent).For pilots wishing to develop advanced techniques for safe and controlled flight with speed wings, mini wings, and para kites. Completion of theory component required prior to attendance

Understand key differences between standard paragliders and advanced wings.• Assess and select appropriate flying conditions.• Apply structured safety decision-making processes.• Execute reliable launches and landings, including strong wind kill and cobra launches.• Demonstrate effective ground handling and piloting.• Integrate risk management strategies
